IBO Player Pro Alternatives That Don’t Get Stuck Loading

The right IBO Player Pro alternative depends on one thing: what you are plugging into the TV. On a Samsung or LG set you can only install what that TV’s store approves, so every “alternative” there works the same way IBO does — a one-device license you buy again for the next screen. On a Fire TV stick or Android box you can install a real Android player and the whole activation problem disappears.

That distinction is missing from almost every list you’ll find, which is why people switch apps three times and end up staring at the same spinning loader. Below is the license model you’re actually replacing, the two platform traps that decide your options, and an honest comparison of what to move to.

If your current app is stuck right now and you’d rather fix it than replace it, start with our IBO Player Pro stuck-on-loading guide — roughly half of loading loops are the playlist or portal, not the app.

The short answer: choose by device, not by feature list

Three buckets cover nearly everyone. Find yours before you read another app review.

What you’re watching on What an alternative really means Best move
Samsung Tizen or LG webOS TV, nothing plugged in Another store-approved TV app, almost always with the same buy-per-device license Add a cheap Android box or stick and stop paying per screen
Fire TV stick, Android TV box, Google TV device A full Android player you install yourself — no activation server in the way Install a proper Android player and import your playlist
Phone or tablet, or several TVs in one house An account-based player that carries your setup between screens Pick a player with real cloud sync, not per-device keys

Bucket one is where most of the frustration lives, and it is also the one nobody wants to hear about, because the honest answer involves buying a £30 box. Stick with me — the reason is structural, not a sales pitch.

What you’re actually replacing: the license model behind IBO Player Pro

IBO Player Pro is sold by IBO DEV Ltd through its own license store, and that store is more revealing than any review. It lists around forty separate player apps — IBO Player, IBO Player Pro, IBO TV Player, IBO STB, BOB Player, BOB Premium, Duplex TV Player, All Player, ABE Player, MAC Player, Virginia Player, IBOSS, Family 4K, FlixNet, Hush, IBOXX, KTN, SmartOne Pro, IBO Play, Zero Player and more — all from the same developer, all running through the same activation system, all with identical wording on the product page.

Every one of them offers a 7-day trial, then requires a paid license. Bought directly from the developer’s store, IBO Player Pro is €5 for one year or €10 for a lifetime license. That matters, because the reseller pages that dominate search results quote €9.99 as if it were the only option, and plenty of provider sites charge more again for the same key.

Term What it means for you
7-day trial, then a license is required The app stops loading when the trial ends — a very common cause of the “it worked yesterday” spinner
One activation per TV or device Three TVs means three purchases, not one license shared
Activation cannot be changed or transferred Replace the TV and the license dies with it. New TV, new payment
No refunds once activated You can cancel before activation. After that, the money is gone
Around forty sibling apps, one license system Switching to a different-looking app from the same family changes the logo, not the terms

That last row is the single most useful thing on this page. When a forum thread tells you to “just use BOB Player instead”, you are being pointed at the same activation system with a different splash screen. If the thing that annoyed you was the license, that is not an alternative at all.

Why a different smart-TV app usually repeats the problem

This isn’t the developer being awkward. It’s how the TV platforms work.

LG’s own developer documentation describes webOS TV as a web-centric platform where apps are built with HTML, CSS and JavaScript and shipped through an approval process into the Content Store. Samsung’s Tizen works the same way. There is no user-facing sideloading route on a retail set, so a small developer cannot hand you an installer — the app has to live in the manufacturer’s store, and the store gives it no billing hooks for the kind of account most Android apps use. A device-bound key bought on a website is the path of least resistance, and that is why practically every native TV player in this space sells one.

So on a Samsung or LG TV your realistic options are: pay the license and accept it, try another store app with near-identical terms, or change what feeds the TV. Only the third option actually removes the constraint.

The Vega OS trap on the newest Fire TV Stick

Here’s the part that catches people who take the “just get a Firestick” advice in 2026. Amazon has moved new hardware onto Vega OS, a Linux-based system that replaces Android-based Fire OS. Its developer portal is explicit that Vega apps are built with React Native for Vega or web technologies through the Vega Developer Tools — which means an Android APK does not run on it.

Practically: the Fire TV Stick 4K Select ships with Vega OS and will not take a sideloaded Android player. Older Fire TV sticks and cubes still running Fire OS are fine. If you’re buying a stick specifically so you can install a proper player, check the model before you check out, or buy an Android TV or Google TV box instead. I’ve watched two people order the cheapest new stick on the shelf and discover this on the sofa.

Our Firestick player comparison and the Android TV and Google TV guide both go deeper on which hardware is safe.

These are the players people actually move to. Feature sets change, so treat this as a starting shortlist and check the current listing before you pay for anything.

Player Runs on License model Moves between devices? Best for
mtivi Android phones, tablets, Android TV, Google TV, Fire OS sticks, Nvidia Shield, Android boxes Free tier, no account needed to start; optional Pro and Max Yes — cloud sync carries playlists, favorites and progress Households with more than one screen; translated subtitles
TiviMate Android TV and Fire OS; its listing notes it isn’t optimized for phones or tablets Free tier, paid Premium Partly — no built-in cloud sync of settings Guide-heavy TV use on one main box
OTT Navigator Android and Android TV Free tier, paid unlock Manual backup files Power users who like deep settings
IPTV Smarters Pro Broad platform coverage including mobile Free, often rebranded by resellers Re-enter details per device Getting something working quickly
Another IBO-family app Smart TVs, sticks, boxes Same store, same one-device activation No Only if your TV genuinely has no other route

Where mtivi fits, and where it doesn’t

mtivi is a media player. You bring an M3U, M3U8 or Xtream Codes source and it plays it — the same arrangement as the app you’re leaving. What changes is the licensing shape and what you get without paying.

The free tier is a complete player: live TV with a guide, movies and series, favorites, profiles with a parental PIN, channel-name cleanup and instant recording, with no account required to start. Cloud sync carries your playlists, favorites, settings and playback position to every signed-in device, so a second TV is a sign-in rather than a second purchase. Subtitle translation into 55+ languages is the Pro headline, and recording works on single-connection plans without dropping what you’re watching. Very large lists are handled properly too — see loading very large playlists without lag.

The honest limitation: mtivi runs on Android today. Android phones and tablets, Android TV, Google TV, Fire OS sticks, Nvidia Shield and Android boxes. iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, Windows and native smart-TV apps are coming, but they aren’t here yet. If your Samsung or LG TV is the only device in the room and you refuse to plug anything into it, mtivi cannot help you today — that’s exactly the case where a native store app remains your option.

A six-step switch that saves you a weekend

  1. Write down your source details first. Xtream host, username and password, or the full M3U URL. If you only ever had a portal MAC registered by a provider, ask them for M3U or Xtream credentials before you uninstall anything — some issue them on request. Our M3U vs Xtream Codes guide explains which you have.
  2. Photograph your favorites list. Nothing migrates automatically between different developers’ apps. Two minutes with a phone camera beats rebuilding from memory.
  3. Check the target hardware. Fire OS stick, Android TV box or Google TV device — not a Vega OS stick.
  4. Install the new player and add the source before you remove the old app. Keep both until the new one is proven.
  5. Test the awkward things. Catch-up, the guide filling in, subtitles, and a channel you know is temperamental. Test in the evening, when servers are busiest.
  6. Sign in on the second screen. If the player has cloud sync, this is where you find out whether you’ve genuinely left the per-device model behind.

One more thing worth knowing before you spend anything: the loading loop that sent you here is often the source, not the software. A portal that has expired, a playlist URL that redirects, or a provider at connection limit produces the same endless spinner in every app on the market. New to all this? What is an IPTV player sets out how the pieces fit together.

Frequently asked questions

Is an IBO Player Pro license really locked to one device?

Yes. The activation terms state you activate the application once per TV or device, and that an activation cannot be changed or transferred to another device. If the TV dies or you upgrade it, the license does not follow you to the replacement.

How much does IBO Player Pro actually cost?

On the developer’s own license store it is listed at €5 for a one-year plan or €10 for a lifetime plan, after a 7-day trial. Reseller and provider sites frequently quote €9.99 or more for the same activation, so it is worth checking the source store before paying.

Will switching to another app from the same developer fix my loading problem?

Rarely. Roughly forty player apps run through the same activation system with the same one-device terms. If the trial expiring or the license check was your problem, a sibling app reproduces it. If a corrupted install was the problem, a different app can help — but so would a clean reinstall.

Does mtivi provide any channels, movies, series or playlists?

No. mtivi is a media player. We don’t provide, sell, or include any channels, movies, series, or playlists — you add your own source, exactly as you do with the app you’re leaving.

Can I move my playlist and favorites to a new player automatically?

The playlist yes, the favorites no. Any player will take the same M3U URL or Xtream host, username and password. Favorites, groups and channel order live inside each app’s own storage, so note them down before you uninstall. Players with cloud sync only sync between their own installs, not between rival apps.

My player worked for a week and then stopped loading. Is that the trial ending?

That timing is the classic signature of a 7-day trial expiring, yes. If the app opens but never gets past the loading screen exactly a week after you set it up, check the license status before you troubleshoot the network.

What’s the cheapest way to escape per-device activation on a Samsung or LG TV?

A basic Android TV or Google TV box or an older Fire OS stick, plugged into a spare HDMI port. It costs roughly the same as two or three device activations, works on every TV you own it with, and lets you install any Android player rather than only what the TV’s store approves.

Will an Android player install on the new Fire TV Stick 4K Select?

No. That model runs Vega OS, Amazon’s Linux-based replacement for Android-based Fire OS, and its apps are built with Amazon’s Vega tooling rather than as Android packages. Older Fire OS sticks and cubes still accept sideloaded Android apps.

Is my endless loading screen the app’s fault or my provider’s?

Test the same source in a second player on a different device. If both hang, the source or the connection limit is the cause. If only one app hangs, the app or its license is. This single test saves more time than any settings tweak.

Can I get a refund on an activation I’ve already used?

The published policy says purchased activations are not refundable once activated. You can request cancellation and a refund before the activation has been applied, but not after. Decide before you accept the terms, not after.

Is mtivi free, and what do the paid tiers add?

Free is a complete player: live TV with a guide, movies and series, favorites, profiles with a parental PIN, channel-name cleanup, instant recording and up to two playlists, with no account needed to start. Pro adds subtitle translation, scheduled recordings, offline downloads, combined playlists, multi-view and higher limits. Max unlocks unlimited limits, recurring recordings and bring-your-own-translation-key.

Does changing player apps fix buffering?

Sometimes, but don’t expect miracles. A player can improve buffer handling, decoding and how it copes with a very large list. It cannot add bandwidth or fix an overloaded server. If every app buffers at the same time each evening, the bottleneck is upstream of the software.
