Two numbering modes, and which one to pick if you type channel numbers from memory.
Channel numbers come from two different places, and mtivi lets you choose which wins.
| Mode | What you get |
|---|---|
| Per Category | The default. Channels are numbered by their position inside the category you are looking at, so the list always reads 1, 2, 3 with no gaps. |
| Playlist Number | Keeps the number your service supplied, whenever it supplies one. Numbers may jump, because your service’s numbering does. |
Change it
Settings, then Browsing, then Live TV Channel Numbering.
Pick Playlist Number if you type numbers from memory. If you learned that 101 is your news channel on another app, this is the setting that keeps 101 meaning the same thing here.
Why the same channel can have two numbers
In Per Category mode the number describes a position, so a channel sitting fourth in Sports and twelfth in All Channels genuinely has two positions. Playlist Number gives it one fixed number everywhere, at the cost of gaps in the list.
