Where the guide field is, what a good address looks like, and why the guide arrives after everything else.
A TV guide is a separate file from your channel list. Xtream lines usually carry one already. M3U lines usually do not, so you add the address yourself.
Add or change the address
- Settings, then Playlists
Select the playlist, then Edit Playlist.
- Open the advanced section
It is the field for the guide, in the advanced part of the playlist form.
- Paste the XMLTV address
It usually ends in .xml or .xml.gz, and a compressed one downloads far faster.
- Save, then refresh the playlist
Why the guide lands last
It is the largest download in a sync, often larger than the channel list itself. mtivi streams it rather than holding it in memory, so a big guide will not push a small box over its limit, but it does take longer than the channels do.
Where to get an address
Ask your service first, because their guide matches their channel names and that matching is what makes a guide useful. Public guide sources exist, but names have to line up for programs to attach to the right channel.
How far ahead you see depends on your plan: 24 hours on Free, 72 hours on Pro, unlimited on Lifetime and Max. The guide file itself may hold more than your plan shows.
