Two ways to look at a catalog of thousands, and the sorts and filters that make it navigable.
Your service hands over a catalog with no design. mtivi gives it two, and you pick which one opens by default.
Two views

| Spotlight | A rotating hero and shelves like recently added, top rated and recommendations. Good for deciding what to watch. |
| Library Mode | Categories on the left, a poster grid on the right. Good for going straight to something. |
Switch between them from the Movies or Series page itself, whenever you like. To choose which one OPENS, use Settings, then Browsing, then Movies Default View or Series Default View. Live TV has the same choice between EPG Mode and Library Mode.
Narrowing it down
- Sort by A to Z, rating, release date or recent activity.
- Filter by runtime, for the evenings when only a short film will do.
- Genres in the sidebar, either mtivi’s own genres or only the ones your playlist supplies.
- Search that tolerates misspelling, so half a title still finds it.
- Continue watching and Watched shelves, so finished titles stop cluttering the front.
Recommendations
The recommendations on a detail page are built from your own catalog, so every suggestion is something you can actually play.
A title in several categories shows in all of them. If your service lists a film under both Action and 2026 Releases, mtivi puts it in both rather than only the first.
Series
Series carry seasons and episodes, an episode list with watched state per episode, and the same sorts, genres and filters as Movies.
