What to try in order on a TV box, and what a crash right after an update usually means.
Most closures on cheap TV boxes come down to memory or storage. Work down the list.
- Restart the box properly
Not standby. Unplug it for ten seconds and start again. It clears more than you would expect.
- Free some space
A device with almost no free storage misbehaves in ways that look random. Delete recordings and downloads you have finished with.
- Close other apps
Two heavy apps on a 1 or 2 GB box will fight, and the system kills whichever is in front.
- Update mtivi
- Reinstall as a last resort
Export a backup first, and check whether your Device ID survives: The Device ID changed after a reinstall.
It closes during playback only
Try a lower quality on that channel, or set Decoder Mode to Auto if you changed it. Playing 4K on a box built for 1080p is the usual cause.
It started after a system update
Check the device’s own settings for battery or performance restrictions applied to mtivi, and allow it to run in the background. Android updates often reset those.
Record what happened. Settings, then Advanced, has a diagnostics recorder that captures the session so support can see what went wrong. Nothing is saved or sent: you take a photo of the summary and send it to us.
