Portal address plus MAC address, why mtivi proposes a MAC of its own, and what your service has to do on their side.
A portal line is the MAG box style login: a portal address and a MAC address instead of a username and password.
Add it
- Settings, then Playlists, then Add Playlists
Choose the Stalker Portal tab.
- Enter the portal address
Exactly as your service wrote it, including http or https. Some portals need the path they gave you, for example
/c/or/stalker_portal/c/. - Check the MAC address
mtivi proposes a MAC for this device. If your service issued you a specific MAC, replace it with theirs.
- Save and let it sync
Live TV arrives first. The movie catalog fills in as you browse.
Why mtivi suggests a MAC
Every device gets its own MAC, derived from the device itself, so it stays the same across reinstalls and never collides with another device of yours. That matters because a portal ties a session to a MAC: two devices sharing one MAC will list channels and then refuse to play them.
Your service has to allow the MAC. Send them the MAC shown in the form and ask them to register it. A portal you have not been registered on will list nothing, or list channels that never start.
What a portal supports
Live TV, movies, series with seasons and episodes, the portal’s own guide, your subscription expiry, subtitles, downloads, casting and recording.
The catalog fills in as you browse
Portals limit how fast one MAC may request pages, so pulling a whole catalog of tens of thousands of titles in one pass is not reliable. mtivi takes a large slice up front and then loads each category as you open it.
