Link your TV to your mtivi account with the Device ID and Key
Linking is free and takes a minute. Here is the exact path, and what to do when the screen says it is not linked yet.
You are not asked for this when you install mtivi. You watch first, on a 7-day trial with the paid features on. When the trial ends, the app asks you to link the device to a free mtivi account so you can keep using it, and that is the moment this page is for.
Linking is free. No card, no payment, ever. It takes about a minute, and afterwards mtivi carries on free for as long as you like. The account is also what lets you add playlists from a phone, keep your setup when a box dies, and carry a paid plan from one TV to another.
What you need
The TV screen shows two lines: a Device ID and a Device Key. Keep them in view while you do the rest on a phone or a computer.
Link it
- Open mtivi.app on a phone or computer
Or point the phone camera at the code on the TV screen, which opens the same page.
- Sign in, or create an account
Creating one is free and takes about a minute. No card is asked for.
- Open Devices, then Link a new device
Enter the Device ID and the Device Key as the TV shows them, then submit. Capitals and dashes do not matter.
- Back on the TV, choose I have linked it
The app checks with the server and moves on.
It still says not linked yet
The app is telling you the truth: the server has no record of that pair yet. Work through these in order.
| What to check | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| The ID and Key were typed exactly | Capitals, dashes and spaces are ignored, so only the characters matter. A missing or misread character is the usual culprit: the Key never contains I, L, O or U. |
| You submitted on mtivi.app, not just signed in | Signing in alone does not add the device. The Link a new device form has to be submitted. |
| The TV has internet | Open any channel or the guide. If nothing loads, the link check cannot reach us either. |
| You waited a few seconds and pressed again | The check runs on demand and does not keep polling. |
Adding more devices later
Repeat the same steps with the second device’s own ID and Key. One account holds several devices, and each one keeps its own playlists unless you turn on cloud sync. See Add a second device to your account.
Never share your Device Key in public. It is the password half of the pair. Support will never ask you to post it in a review, a comment or a group chat.
Still stuck? Your TV shows a Device ID, but activation says it is not registered goes deeper.
