Export your whole setup to one file, and put it back anywhere

Playlists, favorites, layout, history, recording schedules and settings in one file, with your profiles locked behind their own PINs.

Hours of tidying, favorites and collections should not die with a TV box. One file carries all of it onto the next device, even one that is not on your account.

Export

  1. Settings, then Backup and Restore, then Export Data

A picker opens rather than a single button, so you choose what goes in.

  2. Tick the sections you want

Playlists, favorites and collections, watch history, layout including pins, locks, hidden items and order, recording schedules, and your settings.

  3. Your profiles ask for their own PIN

Kids and Private are only included if you enter that profile’s PIN as you tick it, and a profile with no PIN is not offered at all.

  4. Decide about logins separately

Passwords and the portal MAC are their own choice, off by default. A playlist still restores without them, you simply retype the password.

The file lands in Downloads, where other apps on the device can read it. With logins included, anyone holding it can use your playlists. Keep it somewhere private and leave logins off unless you need them.

Restore

Settings, then Backup and Restore, then Import Data. Before anything changes, mtivi shows what the file holds, how many items each section carries and how many of them conflict with what is already on this device. You choose the sections to bring in, and what wins on a clash: keep what is here, or take the backup’s.

Why it keeps working

The export takes everything the app stores rather than a hand-written list of fields, so a setting added in a later update is already in your next backup without anyone having to remember it.

What it cannot carry

  • Recordings and downloads. They are files, sometimes many gigabytes, and they stay on the device that made them.
  • Anything that did not exist when the backup was made.

For devices on the same account, cloud sync does this continuously and needs no file at all.
