Some services store names encoded. One setting decodes them, and it should stay off when your names already look right.
If your channels read like QmVJTiBTcG9ydHM= instead of words, the list is not broken. Your service stored the names in an encoded form that most apps pass straight through.
The fix
- Open Settings, then Advanced
Find Xtream Base64 Text Compatibility.
- Switch it on
mtivi then decodes names and categories broadly instead of only where the format is certain.
- Refresh the playlist
Settings, then Playlists, then Refresh Playlist. Names are rewritten as the list comes back in.
Leave it off unless you need it. Broad decoding can also mangle names that were never encoded, because some ordinary titles look like encoded text. Turn it on only when your list actually shows the problem.
Names that are merely messy
Tags like [HD], (4K) and |UHD| are a different problem, and the Title Optimizer strips them without touching the real name. See Clean up messy channel and movie titles.
