Audio tracks, preferred language and Dolby passthrough

Pick a language once and have it chosen for you, keep Atmos intact, and fix a channel that plays silent.

Many streams carry several audio tracks. mtivi lets you pick per stream, or set a preference once.

Choose a track while watching

Open the player controls and choose the audio track. The choice holds for that stream.

Set a preferred language

Settings, then Playback, then Preferred Audio Language. When a stream carries that language, it is selected automatically. Automatic follows the app or device language.

Dolby and DTS passthrough

If your TV, soundbar or receiver decodes Dolby or DTS, mtivi hands the sound over untouched so Atmos objects survive. The device’s own decoder is preferred, and mtivi’s bundled decoders only fill in formats the device cannot handle at all.

One exception. Turning on live captions can force plain audio on devices that cannot do both at once. If Atmos matters for a given show, leave captions off during it.

A channel with no sound

Check	Why
Another channel from the same category	Tells you whether it is the channel or the setup.
The audio track list	Some channels start on a silent or commentary-free track.
Your receiver’s input format	A receiver set to stereo only will mute a Dolby stream rather than downmix it.

Mute without pausing

The player can mute while the stream keeps running, which matters on live TV where pausing loses your place in the broadcast.
