A lens holding only what you put in it, with its own tab bar, reached by a gesture a child will not stumble on and locked with a PIN on the way out.
Most players give you a parental PIN and call it child safety. mtivi gives you a second television.
Kids shows only the channels, categories, films and shows you moved into it. Not what a filter guessed was safe, not everything minus a blocked list. What you put there, and nothing else.
Set it up
- Long-press anything you want in there
A channel, a whole category, a film or a series. Choose to move it to Kids. Adult content is refused outright, whatever you do.
- Set a Kids PIN
Do this before you hand the remote over. It is what stops a child leaving.
- Trim the tab bar
Each profile keeps its own navigation bar, so Kids can show three tabs where yours shows seven. Settings, then Browsing, then Navigation Bar, while Kids is open.
Getting in and out
Long-press the Live TV tab to enter. The same gesture leaves, and with a Kids PIN set it asks for the PIN on the way out.
Nothing happens if Kids is empty, on purpose. Dropping someone into a profile with no channels looks like a broken app rather than a switched mode. Move something in first and the gesture starts working.
What Kids does not have
- The Teasers trailer feed is removed, not filtered.
- Multi-View is not offered.
- Casts from other devices are turned away while it is open.
Plans
Included on the trial, Pro, Lifetime and Max. If a paid plan ends, everything already inside Kids stays there and stays usable.
