Your login was rejected, or your playlist has expired
Why these two look identical to any app, and the order to check things in.
The app shows what your service answered. The awkward truth is that most services answer a wrong password and an expired playlist with exactly the same response, so no app can reliably tell them apart.
Check in this order
- Re-enter the login carefully
Settings, then Playlists, then Edit Playlist. Username and password are case sensitive. Paste rather than type if you can: edit it from a phone.
- Check the server address
Including http or https and the port. Services move customers between servers and do not always say so.
- Ask your service whether the playlist is active
If the login is definitely right, this is the answer nine times out of ten.
- Check it is not in use elsewhere
A playlist at its connection limit can refuse rather than report the limit.
What each message means
| Message | Meaning |
|---|---|
| The playlist rejected the login | Wrong username or password, or the subscription has ended. |
| Returned unavailable (451) | Almost always an expired or blocked subscription. |
| Connected but returned no channels | The playlist is empty or expired. Renew it or ask for a fresh one. |
| Hit its connection limit | Close other devices using the playlist. |
| The server is not responding | Their end. Try again shortly. |
| Could not reach the playlist | Down, blocked on your network, or the address is wrong. |
Do not delete the playlist to fix this. Deleting throws away the favorites, collections and layout you built on it. Editing keeps them.
Blocked on your network
If the playlist works on mobile data but not at home, something on your network is blocking it. Try Settings, then Playback, then Internet Protocol, set to IPv4 only, which is the setting that fixes it most often.
